This time last year I was working in a corporate job I was desperately unhappy in. I remember staring wistfully out the window dreaming about working for myself and running my own biz.

I knew in my gut I was in the wrong place but at that point I was biding my time and carefully planning my exit strategy.

The decision for me to finally hand in my notice wasn’t one I made on a whim or took lightly. In fact I was planning it for a good 12 months before I actually quit.

My exit strategy included finishing my Health Coaching studies; making sure I had paid off all of my debts so there was nothing hanging over my head; plus ensuring I had a decent amount of savings behind me. I had to get all of my ducks in a row before I could even consider making the leap to work for myself.

Want to know what kept me motivated? The end goal of working for myself forced me to keep going, everyday.

Dreaming about your perfect life is all well and good, but without a specific plan on how you’re going to get there, it’s nothing more than wishful thinking. And we all know where where that gets you: nowhere!

Throughout this journey there will be days that suck. Days you don’t want to get out of bed and face the world. It would be so much easier to not make the change and you’ll argue with yourself on how badly you actually want it.

You will contemplate many, many times "will this be worth it?” or worse, question if your current situation "is really that bad” .

And as you come head-to-head with self-doubt, procrastination and fear of failure, it will be your discipline that forces you to jump out of bed every morning and check off every item on your to-do list; and your determination to keep going, even on the days when your motivation is so low you need a shovel to scoop it up off the ground.

But it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom and nor does it need to be overcomplicated; so today I want to share with you the 3 D's success formula that I used to keep my goals on track to get me where I wanted to be.

#1. Decide what you want.

You need laser sharp, precision focus to be successful in achieving your goal. But the trick is to be very specific about what you want, because without declaring exactly what it is you want, you will get distracted by other things that come your way and take you off your path.Write down in exact detail what your goal is. Be as specific as you can.

If you’re struggling to articulate what you want ask yourself this:

If you could do anything with your life without fear of failure, what would you do?

#2. Determine how you’re going to get there.

This is where you need to work out the steps that you need to take to achieve your goal. Whether you need to start a blog to reach your audience; save a certain amount of money or develop a business plan - you need to clearly articulate the exact steps you’re going to take.

Write down the exact steps and, as with your goals, be as specific as you can.

#3. Be disciplined to keep going.

Every morning when you get up and every night before you go to bed, read over the goals and steps you wrote out. Plant them in your mind so that you are reminded each day what your mission is and how you will be getting there.

This is the hardest part, but by remaining focused and taking small steps each day you'll be kicking those goals in no time.

And now as my journey has evolved,  it's time for me to make the leap and begin the next chapter, which is taking everything I have learned on my wild ride over the past 3 years to serve YOU.

I'm passionate about living your life on purpose and doing what you love, and I want to help you do the same.

So, I'm super excited to be opening up one-on-one coaching sessions where we’ll work together so you can kick butt and do all of those things you’ve been dreaming about doing but have been putting off for so long.

Behind the scenes I’m also busily working on an e-course that will be launching in late October and designed specifically for my fellow dream chasers who know they are capable of so much more than what they’re doing but keep getting in their own way - hello procrastination, self-sabotage and lack of motivation {you know what I’m talking about!}.

I’ll be announcing a super sweet deal to my VIP list tomorrow morning, so make sure you’re on the list to take this offer up - there are limited spots available!

Now I want to hear from you - what's the biggest challenge you face in going after what you want?
